Netbeans 6.9 And The Drupal Plugin

Trying to get the upcoming 6.9 version of Netbeans to install the Drupal plugin? Well look no further. I finally was able to rebuild the plugin against the 6.9 version of Netbeans and it's available right here.

This brings me to something else. It appears that the plugin project has been all but abandoned. I have never been a Java person, but find this plugin just to valuable to let go. That now leaves me scratching my head. Should I spend time learning Java more so that I can improve the plugin and even get it ready for Drupal 7, or just wait for someone with more experience to do so? I'm leaning towards the former, as I do think it could provide a decent learning experince. Any suggestions?
